The back railing of this charming deacon's bench style toy box is formed with 3/8" dowel rod at about 5 1/2" lengths. There are 18 dowels total, providing for superior support and style.

To provide for superior lid support, the lid of this spectacular deacon's bench style toy box is securely attached to the frame with a polished brass 30" piano hinge. Many chests of this nature come only with two smaller hinges. The long piano hinge provides superior lid support, insuring that your chest will last for years.

The lid is further supported by a two inch base plate on either long side of the lid on the inner base. This feature keeps the lid from sagging in the middle, causing stress and breakage.
