The sides of this full size hope chest feature scalloped and routed base to add to it's unique beauty.

When the lid of this hope chest is open, it reveals this brass chain attachment. Even though this hope chest features a friction hinge, this decorative chain insures that the lid will never fall backward and break off.

The aforementioned friction hinge looks like this. This hinge is made to slow the lid, and minimize slamming. If this hope chest is going to someone younger, this is an especially nice feature. Although it cannot eliminate 100% of the risk of hurt fingers, it can at least reduce the risk to as bare minimum as possible.

The key to the friction hinge is in the internal brass tensioning screw. If ever you notice that the hinge is slamming too freely, simply tighten this screw, and it will tighten the hinge attachment. The lid will be a bit harder to open, but this should not be an issue if you have much weight in the chest. If you prefer, you can loosen the tensioning screw to allow the lid a freer range of movement. Be aware, the easier the lid opens, the easier it can slam shut.

To add to the beauty of this exquisite hope chest, each corner of the lid is accented by a decorative brass corner. Although this is a nice decorative touch to this hope chest, it actually serves a more practical cause. these corners reduce the risk of cuts and bruises from accidentally bumping into the corners.

The bottom of this hope chest is completed with a lovely paneled bottom. (Paneling design will vary by chest.)

For an added fee, I will custom engrave a nameplate, up to twelve characters, and mount it to the front. Also, for an additional fee, I will install a square sliding drawer, approximately two inches deep. The drawer will sit nestled just under the lid and will slide on tow pine runners.
