As a feature to our customers and guests, Duvall's Woodwright Shop is proud to offer our new "Home Improvement Tip of the Week" page. Here, we will offer home improvement tips and tricks to help our customers. These home improvement tips and tricks will vary widely in range, but will always be related to tips on repairing and improving the quality of your home. We will discuss furniture repair tips, picture hanging tips, basic home electrical repair tips, plumbing tips, and any other variety of home improvement tips you could imagine. If you are a craftsman going broke on materials, or if you are just looking to do a little remodeling to spruce up your existing decor, try shopping on www.ebay.com for your smaller items, such as hinges, drawer pulls, wood spindles and wood plugs. When searching, follow your search with the word "lot" as this will allow you to purchase large quantities of the items you always use for a greatly reduced rate. Also, you can contact the seller if you wish to purchase many items at once from the same vendor, and most will even further reduce the price and will combine shipping. This is a real money saver.

Have you ever run into a problem where you have a wobbly or loose leg on a table? Have you tried aimlessly to re-tighten the screws intended to hold said leg in place, only to have them dashed by a hole that is stripped? Never fear. To solve this problem, take your unfriendly screw to your favorite hardware store and ask the clerk in the fasteners department for the next size larger in diameter screw. (Not a longer screw.) Once you have the screw, return to your project. Before you reinsert the slightly larger screw, coat it with a layer of wood glue. Insert and tighten the screw. Let the glue set for at least an hour. This process will insure that the new threads will hold securely for years to come.
